Director's Welcome

Welcome to our our Autumn 2010 programme of classes and events. There are a few additions to the weekly programme this term, notably the introduction of an adult advanced contemporary class and a Salsacise class. We have a range of Saturday events, including open workshops from Rambert Dance Company and Northern Ballet Theatre. These opportunities to gain an insight into the work and repertory of the professional companies visiting the Theatre Royal , Norwich are becoming increasingly popular, so early booking is advised. This term we are also offering a Saturday workshop day led by Neil Paris and Heather Eddington. This is linked to the presentation of their works ‘Agnes and Walter; a love story’ and ‘Forgetting Natasha’ at the Norwich Playhouse on Monday 11 October. Having seen the early stages of the creative process of these works I am looking forward with anticipation to these performances. We are delighted to support these Norfolk based artists and I do hope you will be able to join us.

Of course the classes and events in this leaflet represent only part of the activities delivered by Norfolk Dance. During the Autumn there are many other projects that we are undertaking, ranging from working with year 6 children on an innovative Arts and Health programme, a dance leadership scheme, augmenting the dance provision in Secondary schools, and as a result of support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, a significant new initiative in delivering dance opportunities for participants with disabilities has begun.

With the increase in activity and the range of work that we offer and deliver, we are reviewing the way we communicate with our participants, friends and supporters. We want to make sure that everyone is able to find out about our projects and be aware of what’s on. So having revamped our brochure it is now the turn of our website. Later in the Autumn we intend to update our website - so watch this space or rather www.norfolkdance.co.uk

I hope you will find something in this terms’ activities to interest you and engage your enthusiasm for dance – we look forward to welcoming you at Norfolk Dance.
